Siddha Perspective of Arathai Chooranam for the Treatment of diphtheria and the General Precautions of communicable disease - A Narrate Review

The ancient Siddha system of medicine has its origin right from the God of mankind. According to this medical system, herbs, minerals, and human life are interconnected, and they proved their inseparable unification time and again all through the ages. The Siddha system of medicine is based on two concepts of treatment i.eMukkuttram and Arusuvai. The disease Diphtheria in children and adults was reported as an aftermath of civil wars and social unrest. Incidences of outbreaks of adult diphtheria were reported in the 1990s when they caused widespread epidemics in the Russian Federation and former Soviet Republics. It causes fever, tonsillitis, Swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, weakness, chills, shortness of breath, hoarseness of voice, cough, and swelling difficulties. Arathaichooranam consists of five ingredients including Arathai (Alpiniaofficinarum) which is a chief ingredient of this formulation. In the Siddha system of medicine, there are a lot of cultural methods to the human civilization to prevent communicable diseases. The aim of the review article is to bring out the Siddha aspects of Arathaichooranam for the treatment of Diphtheria and also the general preventive measures for the communicable disease.

Introduction: Transfusion of blood and blood products is similar to organ or tissue transplantation. Although it is risky, it is a life-saving treatment when necessary. Life expectancy at birth is increasing. Purpose: Developments have increased in the field of medicine, and in parallel with this, there has been a greater need for blood and blood products for increasing and changing surgeries. Since there is no other artificial product that can be used instead of blood, only human blood is still used. The aim of this study is to shed light on the open ethical issues between the donor and recipient of blood transfusion and to emphasize the necessity of the donor and recipient to benefit from health services effectively and ethically in accordance with the legislation in voluntary blood donation. Materials and Methods: Over the years, as a result of developments in the field of health, national awareness studies, and bitter experiences, the discovery of parameters to be determined before screening tests and the increase in knowledge and experience about blood-borne diseases have caused diseases transmitted through blood transfusion to become rare. However, there are still some open cases regarding this issue. Findings and Conclusion: Although healthcare professionals, especially healthcare workers, take all protective measures before every medical procedure in every intervention made to groups with some suspicious sexual behaviors and different sexual orientations; To evaluate whether transfusion is ethically appropriate in the transfusion of blood and blood products that are taken voluntarily and that do not constitute a legal obstacle for these groups to give unless they notify themselves (even though it is done in all tests), and to make arrangements for systems that meet the needs of these groups in the global world. is required.

PARTICULARITIES OF ASTHMA AMONG ADOLESCENTS IN THE CITY OF FIANARANTSOA

Asthma is the most common chronic illness in children. It represents a major public health problem worldwide. Being the first study on asthma in Fianarantsoa, the aim of the study is to determine the prevalence, assess the severity and determine the risk factors of adolescent asthma in the city of Fianarantsoa. A prospective cross-sectional study, based on written questionnaires from the ISAAC I survey, among school children aged 13 and 14, over a period of 6 months from February to July 2017 was carried out. The choice of establishment was made randomly. Sociodemographic data, asthma symptoms, other atopic conditions, and students' lifestyle were collected using a standardized questionnaire. Nine hundred and thirty students agreed to participate, giving a participation rate of 81%. Five hundred and fifty-four (59.19%) were girls and 382 (40.81%) were boys. The sex ratio was 0.6. The lifetime prevalence of asthma was 13.26% and asthma in the past 12 months was 3.31%. The wheezing during or after exercise and nocturnal cough during the last 12 months were found respectively in 7.48% and 21.7% of cases. Concerning the severity of asthma, 32.26% presented 4-12 times of wheezing during the last 12 months and 19.35% more than 12 times. Waking up at night more than once a week due to wheezing was found in 25.81% of cases. For the severity of the asthma attack, 35.48% had difficulty speaking, 77.96% absenteeism from school for more than 1 to 5 days. Hospitalization for asthma attack once or twice in the last 12 months was found in 16.12%. The factors associated with asthma and asthma symptoms found were gender (p=0.022), passive smoking (p=0.041), presence of humidity or mold (p=0.003), use of biofuel (wood or charcoal). ) (p=0.017), familial asthma (0.0001) presence of cockroaches at home (0.025). Asthma is relatively common among adolescents in schools in the city of Fianarantsoa. The rate of severe asthma is high. According to our study, many factors are associated with asthma in adolescents.
