Framework for the provision of affordable housing: addressing the housing crisis in Namibia
PDFView Article
This study aims to address the global issue of homelessness, with over 900 million people lacking homes worldwide, and a specific backlog of 300,000 housing units in Namibia. The study`s purpose is to conduct a comprehensive review to identify a suitable framework for affordable housing provision in Namibia while analyzing existing theories used by housing professionals and academics. The design and methodology involved sourcing data through Google Scholar, using search terms related to affordable housing and Namibia. Desktop content analysis was employed for data analysis. The study findings suggest that mass housing, supported by well-defined critical success factors, is the most effective framework for providing affordable housing to low-middle income earners. The challenges associated with implementation can be addressed by ensuring knowledgeable individuals are placed in key housing position institutions to facilitate housing legal framework review. The practical implications of this study are to inform researchers, developers, policymakers, and practitioners of the various modalities for affordable housing schemes. The study argues in favour of utilizing Herbert A Simon`s decision-making process, which consists of four stages - intelligence, design, decision, and implementation activities to assess and review the current legal framework of affordable housing policies. The study supports an “up-bottom” approach to restore the dignity of the citizen and foster more equitable society. The value and originality of this research lie in the significant impact of decision-making theory, in conjunction with operations research. Furthermore, this study contributes to the existing literature on affordable housing framework. Future research should delve deeper into the phenomenon and gather original information from those affected by housing crisis, allowing experts to determine critical success factors (CFSs) and criteria.

MSEPs return to the market after confinement

Humanity is facing one of the worst moments in its history with the spread of the New Coronavirus on a global scale. The aim of this research was to find out the perspectives of micro and small entrepreneurs in relation to the following factors: e-commerce and online transactions; distribution chains and sales cycles, as well as economic aspects. To this end, a quantitative/exploratory study was carried out within a pre-established time frame. A bibliographical study was carried out in order to contextualize the theme and form the theoretical framework that underpins the research. The data was collected through observation and the application of a structured questionnaire to a given population of micro and small companies in Brazil. The research is justified by the need to elucidate investigations into the survival of Micro and Small Enterprises - MSEPs. It is hoped that this work will provide useful information for MSEP entrepreneurs, as well as serving as a reference for those who intend to use the information contained in this research for future work. It can be inferred that information about the environment is scarce and entrepreneurs only become aware of the changes taking place in their respective sectors when they are already underway. They react to the changes by introducing new technologies, training their human resources, improving the quality of their products and adopting competitive prices.

The Continuing Connection between Tourism, Global Trade, and CO2 Emissions: Ecological Patterns
PDFView Article
The study specifically focuses on the relationships between the growth of the gross domestic product, the tourist industry, global exchange usage, and the New Direct Hypothesis (FDI). All of these relationships have an effect on CO2 emissions. Pakistan's stance on environmental degradation is a sensitive topic. The evaluation employed the FMOLS DOLS and ARDL models to perform an analysis of verified data from 1980 to 2022. The results show that the relationship between the CO2 transitions and the GDP is nonlinear and negative. In any case, a significant factor influencing carbon dioxide emissions is the increase in gross domestic product and foreign direct investment. The amount of carbon dioxide emissions and the expansion of the gross domestic product have a U-shaped connection. Survey results indicate that CO2 emissions are unaffected by the expansion of the gross domestic product or by the use of foreign exchange. Only foreign direct investment (FDI), which has a negative effect, has an effect on CO2 emissions. The Gross Domestic Product, foreign direct investment, worldwide exchange, and carbon dioxide emissions are all unidirectional in their use, according to the Granger causality test. These results clarify the nebulous link between conventional types of corruption, monetary events, and Pakistan's use of the global exchange markets. It is projected that environmentally conscious development and foreign direct investment (FDI) would boost the use of international trade and meet regular administration goals. There is also hope that financial activity in the traveler region will lower CO2 emissions.

PDFView Article
The aim of the paper is to analyse the macroeconomic impact of education on well-being as measured by real gross domestic product in Senegal between 1988 and 2019. The exogenous variables selected are : general secondary education, vocational secondary education, education expenditure, health expenditure and life expectancy at birth. The data are taken from the WDI. A basic Solow augmented human capital model was adopted based on the work of Gebrehiwot 2014. Using Eviews software, the results obtained through the staggered lag autoregressive method (ARDL) showed that general secondary education has a positive impact on economic welfare in both the short and long run, while vocational secondary education has a positive impact in the short run but a negative impact in the long run. Expenditure on education and life expectancy at birth have a positive impact in the short and long run while expenditure on health has a negative impact in the short and long run. The Pesaran et al (2001) cointegration test confirms the existence of a long term relationship between the different series.
