DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11407162
PDFView Article
The aim of this paper is to analyze thoughts of Milton Friedman that he published in his famous book Capitalism and Freedom in 1962 and apply Friedman’s theories on the contemporary issues of the modern world. The author has decided to review this book, as there was 60th anniversary of the book in 2022. The author of the paper has chosen topics, which he considers the most crucial and current; consequently, following topics are analyzed in the paper: the relation between economic freedom and political freedom, the role of government in a free society, the control of money, fiscal policy, the role of government in education and discrimination. The author uses the same research method as Milton Friedman did – the use of practical examples. The results of the analysis show that current western society is much more regulated than it was in the past and a level of freedom is significantly lesser than in the 1960s. The ideas of Milton Friedman would be probably encountered with disregard and disbeliefs by current leftist society.

ANALYSIS OF TUNA EXPORT SUPPLY RESPONSE IN INDONESIA
DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11407114
PDFView Article
This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the export supply of fresh, frozen, filled and canned tuna products in Indonesia. The form of the bid response is the Nerlove model and the estimation technique used is the Seemingly Unrelated Regression Equation using the Shazam application. This study used time series data for 96 months from January 2012 to December 2019. The results of estimates showed that the number of tuna exports the previous month, the international price of tuna, the international price of type-i tuna substitution commodities, and national prices had a real influence on tuna exports in Indonesia. The four types of tuna products are very responsive to the international price of tuna, the international price of commodity substitution and national prices. The elasticity of supply in the short and long term is inelastic.

The result of the study indicates that rafted timbers, human error and weather condition each with Eigen value greater than 1 (Eigen>1), significantly influence or are the major causes of boat accidents in the Ogboinbiri waterway in Bayelsa state. Ultimately, this investigation contributes valuable insight to policy makers, local authorities, and stakeholders involved in water transportation and timber-related industries. The findings are expected to inform evidence-based decisions, fostering safer practice and reducing the incidence of boat accidents in the Ogboinbiri Waterway, thereby promoting the well-being of both the environment and the community.

Narrative of Lecturer Performance During Technology: Development of a Post-Pandemic Work System
DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11407079
PDFView Article
The pandemic continues to decline, and things are starting to return to normal now, but not with the reality of lecturers' work in Indonesia. Work from home system has been in place for more than a year and make lecturers enjoy this flexibility work. Working from home for a long time, makes workers experience higher pressure than usual. Some workers even become unproductive and experience a decline in performance. Leaders have an important role in every organization. Leaders must take the right policies so as not to make the job more difficult. This research is exploratory quantitative research with a population of university lecturers. The sample used is 154 and uses a stratified random sampling technique. Data were taken by questionnaire and analysed by SEM analysis using warpPLS. This study found that leadership had no effect on lecturer performance, either as a moderating variable or as an independent variable. The system of working from home is influenced only by the circumstances of the individual himself and everything that comes to his mind. However, if the work from home system continues, leaders can be an important influence on lecturer performance. Developing a work system that keeps lecturers productive but not burdensome will be effective in supporting the performance of lecturers both in learning and non-learning.
