Abstract:
Yoga is the art of living a disciplined life. Sanyāsa is the art of renunciation in
life. Jeevanamukti is the art of living a free life without attachment. All these three
concepts and ethical paradigms are concerned with our practical life. These are not mere
speculations with philosophical jargons. The Bhagavat Gitā teaches both karma yoga
and karma sanyāsa and their compatibility in living a life of Jeevanamukta. Freedom is
the highest pursuit of human life. But the freedom that is experienced in our pragmatic
life and keeps us engaged in all worldly assignments with the sense of detachment is
called Jeevanmukti. This is the goal of life. Yoga and Sanyāsa are the spiritual disciplines
through which we can aspire for Jeevanamukti in this empirical world of attachments
and sufferings.
