This review examines the vital role of community engagement in enhancing prehospital care and improving emergency preparedness. Prehospital care, which encompasses the medical services provided before patients reach definitive care facilities, is crucial for timely interventions during emergencies. The involvement of community members in health planning and response strategies significantly impacts the effectiveness of emergency medical services (EMS). This study synthesizes existing literature to demonstrate that active community participation not only improves health outcomes but also fosters trust and collaboration between healthcare providers and the communities they serve. The findings reveal that integrating community input into prehospital care models can lead to tailored services that address specific local health needs, ultimately strengthening community resilience during crises. However, challenges such as communication barriers and disparities in access to prehospital services persist, particularly in underserved populations. These issues highlight the need for more focused and inclusive approaches to community engagement. This review underscores the importance of collaborative practices in prehospital care, emphasizing that empowering communities can enhance emergency response capabilities and improve overall health outcomes.
