This article examines the differential treatment of Ukrainian refugees compared to those from other regions, particularly the Middle East and Africa, within the European Union. While the EU has demonstrated a swift and substantial response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis, inconsistencies in the application of refugee rights and protection mechanisms have emerged. The paper delves into the key rights enshrined in international refugee law and analyzes their implementation in the context of Ukrainian refugees. It highlights disparities in access to asylum procedures, temporary protection measures, and social services. The potential long-term implications of these disparities for refugee integration and EU refugee policy are explored. Furthermore, the paper discusses the geopolitical factors influencing the EU's response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis and the potential impact of the 2024 US presidential election on global refugee resettlement efforts. It concludes by proposing policy recommendations to ensure equitable treatment of all refugees and strengthen international cooperation in addressing the global refugee crisis.
